CLIMADE ASIA

CLIMADE Asia is in its initial discussion process. A key objective will be to fill critical knowledge gaps and blind spots of disease transmission predicted to pose increased threats in the future.  The initial activities in CLIMADE-Asia will be used to identify the partners as well to leverage and apply for further funding to expand the CLIMADE consortium.

Aim 1. Build a pan-Asia coalition to assess climate amplified pathogens susceptibility and transmission.

At present, we are entering discussion with partners that we collaborate as part of the Abbott Pandemic Defence Coalition (APDC) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) United World Antiviral Research Network (UWARN). The APDC and UWARN partners in Asia that are discussing their participation at CLIMADE:
– YGR Care, Chennai, India.
– Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok. Thailand
– Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan.
– Chang Gung University, Taipei, Taiwan
Abbott Pandemic Defence Coalition Partners in Asia are discussing their participation in CLIMADE.
National Institute of Health (NIH) United World Antiviral Research Network (UWARN) Partners

We are also interested in discussion with other potential partners in Asia. Please contact us if you are interested in entering discussions.

OUTCOMES

  • Short-term – Build a pan-Asia coalition to assess climate amplified pathogens susceptibility and transmission.
  •  Medium-term – engaging in dialogue with ministries of health and other academic and industrial partners to expand the program in Asia.
  • Long-term – creating sustainable capacity to identify and monitor pathogens in real time by training personnel from national public health institutes to respond to outbreaks and epidemics amplifies by climate change.
