On September 22nd, CERI had the privilege of hosting 40 bright minds from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) master’s program. The day was filled with insightful discussions centered around the theme of #AIforScience and the exciting possibilities of applying artificial intelligence in the biomedical field.

Dr. Houriiyah Tegally, the head of Data Science at CERI, delivered an inspiring talk to the AIMS students. Her expertise shed light on the potential synergies between mathematics, AI, and biomedical science, paving the way for innovative breakthroughs in combating infectious diseases.

AIMS, a pioneer in fostering mathematical and scientific excellence in Africa, recently marked its remarkable 20-year journey since its inception in September 2003. To continue this transformative mission, AIMS has opened the call for applications for the prestigious African Master’s in Machine Intelligence (AMMI) program for the year 2024.
