Summary: In recent months, Paraguay faces a concerning Monkeypox outbreak, straining its healthcare system. To understand transmission and response, here we obtained the first 30 whole genome sequences of the virus using a genomic surveillance approach and provide initial insights into transmission and response activities in this public health issue.
